Combat Commander: Europe, first try out

Had game with my Dad of this rather excellent game.

Despite my reluctance to get this one due to lack of Tanks, or indeed any vehicles, it turned out to be a really super game system (so much so I neglected to take any in game pics of the first…

Storming The Reich boardgame on table

Managed to get this one onto my table at last.

Large (double sized) map but fairly low counter totals.

Played through first couple of turns and quite fun and works quite well for solo play.

Rather odd sequence of play but which…

Battle of the Bulge board Wargame

It being 16th of December it seemed appropriate to play a Bulge game at my fathers and so I dug out the low complexity Battle of the Bulge from Smithsonian Series by Avalon Hill (RIP).

A jolly good game it turned out to be too. Low complexity but a decent…

No Retreat The Russian Front Vassal game ends

Finished my online Vassal game with Daniel last night ending in abject and total defeat for my Germans.

Disastrous run of Exchange results over several turns saw the Whermacht bled white throughout 1942 and into 1943 with result that when initiative shifted to…

Paths Of Glory face to face (and brain barfs !!)

Played Paths Of Glory last night at my Fathers (seemed sort of apt for Remembrance Day).

This is a really good and interesting game and this face to face game will hopefully help with my ongoing Vassal game (I find I take in the rules much better in a live time…

PanzerBlitz II Hill Of Death (Carentan) outing

Played a game with my Father of this game which I have had for a bit but not actually played (one of a growing number !!).

Used the Carentan supplement (that I was very generously gifted by a chap from 'Oz'tralia).

Turned out to be a really good scenario and a rather good game system (similar to White Star Rising but with more depth and historical rather than generic scenarios) despite rather…

Saw this on BGG interesting indeed if it comes to pass :-)

We will use Kickstarter to fund the project with a planned launch date of December 2012. More information to come as we get closer to the…

Wilderness War set up and initial try

Am hoping to start new Vassal game with Norman soon with this game Wilderness War.

So I set up the game to run through the extensive Example of Play from the playbook to try to get the gist of the rules into the cavity between my ears.

Fairly standard CDG…

Red Storm Over The Reich 2+ turns completed (pic and waffle heavy)

Had a solo play through of Red Storm Over The Reich today (see earlier entry re Set-up with Pics and Video). First turn inevitably slow as I referred to rules. Not a complex game by any means in terms of systems used and the…
