Westward Expansion Update

While I had hoped we would be getting added to the P-500 list with GMT by now, the game is still in artwork. While I'm getting anxious to get published, I know that Tim Park's artwork is worth waiting for. I know it has been some time since I posted anything here and some are wondering what's going on so I thought I would give a general update. The card artwork and text has been finished and the map is currently underway. That leaves the counters (which since they are mostly duplicates for…

Westward Expansion

Westward Expansion has come a long way in the last few months. It is pretty unrecognizable from where it began, all for the better. Had several well known designers kick the tires on it at Prezcon and got some excellent feedback. I'm finally going to put a folder up fot it on Consimworld forums which can be reached from here: http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX/.1dd65079/0

Stop by and ask away about the game!

Alpha testing in progress

Alpha testing still in progress, but I found a few things off the bat that I am currently addressing. The terrain tiles didn't work as I had hoped, and the game was way too long. I'm making the tiles larger, and I'm going to allow tile stacking. The first tile placed on any hex will always be the terrain in that hex for movement, but a second player may stack another tile on top for the river portion of the tile, since it is necessary to be able to have 2 different rivers going through the same… Continue

Revisions for Westward Expansion

Made excellent headway today. Rules are pretty solid now and ready to go. Updated discovery cards, completed all but one chart, and just need to finish up those couple new event cards. Most if not all of which should be finished tomorrow. Should definitely be starting the alpha play-testing by the weekend, if not sooner!!

Back to work

Finally got time to work on Westward Expansion this weekend. I was able to create the Battle Chart for battling Natives, still need to create one more for Battling the Spanish Military. Assigned goals and objectives for each of the expeditions (including the Spanish Military, so yes they will be a playable faction). I had an inspiration for a few more event cards which will be created this week. I also updated the starting locations for each expedition to correspond to their historic starting… Continue

Delete Comment It's been some time since anything has been posted about this game, as I've been wrestling with finding a satisfying battle mechanic. Although no battles took place historically (only one minor skirmish) there was certainly the possibility of battles happening at any moment, so I wanted to include that possibility in the game. I think I have settled on a solution that I am happy with, will add to the… Continue
