Arigaeum results GBOA

http://hudsonshideout.blogspot.com/2016/06/indians-get-smashed-in-arigaeum-as.html

We used the Alexander elite commander rule and man what a difference that makes. The scenario warned that to preserve realism not to use the Elite Commander rules but being the curious war gamers we are we had to use Alexander to his greatest potential. His elite commander rule allows him to…

The Dark Valley and getting started

After a lengthy setup we finally started playing The Dark Valley today. I wasn't too up on the rules and didn't pay attention to the special German abilities in the 1941 start so when I setup I did not stack my units optimally. Since we are learning this one I took it in stride and opened the war and so far I really like how the game plays. We just finished turn 1 and are about to start turn 2. I need to reorganize a bit and use those special rules the German's have to their full…

What does board wargaming do a PC wargame cannot?

What does board wargaming do a PC wargame cannot?

^ More at the link

That is a good question. People often ask me why I bother playing these huge board wargames when I can just play almost the same thing with a Matrix Games PC title or a John Tiller game.

Warfighter game ends in total mission op failure

My game of #Warfighter  ended pretty badly. Both soldiers got about 3 objective locations in. Then I got two cartel lookouts and they in turned spawned about 2 tangos each. Before I knew it the situation had gotten out of control and Sgt. Holte had been shot twice while Pvt. Thomas was suppressed so badly he could only use his actions to try and get out of being pinned.

The spec op was pretty bad and by turn 5 I gave up. Those drug huts would…

Old time memories and a lot of old boardgames

I recently got my items out of my Dad's attic and found a trove of older games I had back in the 80's. I am going to sell most of them on eBay to pay some bills and get caught up. I found Ace of Aces, 1st Edition and 2nd Edition Blood Bowl, original Titan and many many more…
