The last half of 2015, was pretty dire for me in wargaming terms.I hardly played any solo gaming at home!
Changes in free time to solo wargame at home has dramatically changed, and in the wrong direction, meaning I have less continuous time to play.
I also got very exasperated at having to learn new rule sets for every game I wanted to play, and knowing that it would be difficult to submerge myself into the game due to time constraints meant I felt it was useless to…

Just seen the new CSW News page.
My goodness what have you done??? It is awful. Please, go back to the old one or do something with the new one, like separate columns better and make look attractive, rather than looking like some 1998 web page

Over the past year, I have been cruising the wargaming forums at BGG, and taking part in various discussions, I have come across some real know-it-all's who seem to think that their opinion is above and correct over any others.
These opinions can cover how good or bad a game is, a publisher, or a designer. They pound you with all sorts of crap, making you look like you know nothing, and that they are the voice to be believed in.
Although it annoys me, I also…

Introduction
The Battle of Hastings was fought on the 16th October 1066 between William the Duke of Normandy and the Anglo-Saxon king Harold. The outcome of this battle would change the course of English history dramatically.
Because I live in Hastings, playing a wargame on…

I have just realized my last post was the first for 6 months on here.
I have also realized how quiet it is here now. Where has everyone gone?

Last night I got my first BGG warning - for posting a string of six smilies, the ones that are sleeping.
I have replied to BGG to find out exactly what line I had crossed, as it is obvious that someone had RED X mt comment.
I wait with baited breath for their reply, but I do not expect anything sensible from them.

I have finally decided to play this game, as I bought it direct on it's first P500 listing.
Just started to punch out the counters, only to realize that the quality of the die cutting and/or printing alignment is awful.
Letters have been cut off either from the side or right across the top, boats and subs have their afts cut off.
I have not seen something this bad for a long long time. Surprising since it came from GMT.
Has anyone else had this…

I bought this game last weekend from the Polish publisher for 59zl, which worked out to be just over £10 + £3 P&P.
I had spoken to a friend to had bought from them before and they had assured me the quality is good.
I have to agree, the maps and counters are really nice, and comes in a good box. I also bought their magazine which has…

Two of the games I ordered in the GMT sale arrived today. The method of shipping was by surface mail as this was the much cheaper shipping option plus I was in no rush for these games, so I was expecting 4- 6 week wait.
They arrived in 8 days! I was so impressed with that!
Plus GMT followed my request and put the shipping value at $20, this way it avoided a small customs charge and an annoying Post Office administration charge, which combined would have cost around…

So, has anyone taken the plunge (or planning to) and ordered any instock games from GMT during their 50% sale?
If so, what have you ordered or plan to order?
I bought Fading Glory and No Retreat North Africa. Not much else really caught my eye that was in stock.

By the end of last year, I felt that my wargaming hobby had become complete.
I had all the games I had wanted, numerous feeds and "following" other wargamers like Kev Sharpe and others, I had written up a list of games which I aimed to play in 2014, and I had decided to stop buying anymore games apart from those on pre-order with Legion Wargames.
All of this has become undone.
As 2014 started, so did playing Lost Battles. A great game and I played…

I bought a book on the Wars of the Roses, which I hope will compliment and expand the GMT game Blood & Roses.
I have a few other source books on this war, so when I read them, I should be more informed about this whole dynastic war.…

Out of all of the old SPI/AH games from the 60's, 70's & 80's, what would be your must-haves (or the never sell catagory) in your collection.
These must be games that you would, on occasion still put on the table and play, and still enjoy playing even though they are decades old?
And the next question is, why? What makes them that good you still want to keep and play them?

I have decided to create a list of the top 10 games that I own and want to learn and play in 2014. I do not normally do lists like this, but I thought if I set myself a target, then it would be good to see at the end of the year how well I have done.
Some of these games have multiple scenarios, so I will class them as played even if I only play one
I do not intend to rattle through them just to complete my list, I will play them like I do all my games - take my…

My wife and I went Christmas shopping last Monday. After a successful day of getting all the presents we needed to get, my wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas.
I told her I was happy with Picket Duty as my Christmas present, but she thought this was not enough.
After a lot of thought, I said to her that I cannot think of anything that I need, other than another game that I have really really really wanted for ages, but it was a little…

A couple of weeks ago, I asked the designer of a wargame some questions, and it turned out he lives in the same town that I work in.
During the course of messages through BGG with this designer, the suggestion came up that at some point we could do a FtF game.
Two or three years ago (I have only gotten back into board wargaming in 2009 after a 25 year absence) I would have jumped at the offer. But not now. I declined his offer with a number of valid reasons, but…

I have a blog which I have started using for wargaming (more for fun than seriousness) and I did a game report for The Road to Cheren.

You can still pick up a copy of this great game by Steve Dixon for the pre-order price of $45. This offer ends on the 30th of November, and this will save you $19 on the retail price.

Someone had posted on 28th Oct that Thomas had passed away.
Is this true?
I have not seen him on here for a long time. It will be sad if he has gone.
