History of Jews in the U.S. Military

This is a great article about Jews serving in the US military.

Today, Jewish men and women in the military are valiantly continuing the tradition of serving in our country’s military. They are in Afghanistan, Iraq and Haiti as a part of America’s Armed Forces. Some have given their lives, many have been…

He's dead, Jim. RIP Adam Cartwright

Pernell Roberts, the outspoken actor who played Adam Cartwright, the thoughtful eldest son on television’s seminal western series “Bonanza” and who was the last surviving member of the show’s original family, died Sunday at his home in Malibu, Calif. He was 81.

The cause was pancreatic cancer, said his lawyer and friend Richard A. Stone.

Dark-haired, handsome and athletically built, Mr. Roberts was a rising theater actor — a busy… Continue

Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum in Financial Trouble

The museum has announced it is five million dollars in debt and will need to sell some of its priceless autos to remain solvent. This museum is a Cleveland institution. It also owns Shandy Hall and Hale Farm and Village where Mr. J and I attended a civil war reenactment this past weekend.

The economy is in the toilet and I suspect donations are way down.…

Breaking the Sound Barrier

The breaking of the sound barrier is not just an audible phenomenon. As a new picture from the U.S. military shows, Mach 1 can be quite visual.

This widely circulated new photo shows a Air Force F-22 Raptor aircraft participating in an exercise in the Gulf of Alaska June 22, 2009 as it executes a supersonic flyby over the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis.

The visual phenomenon, which sometimes… Continue

Hoss was my homeboy!

It may have been a fictional TV show, but there was plenty of American history! It was one of my favorite shows while I was growing up. My dad is still a big fan. Alas, I would need a "benefactor" to fund my trip...sigh.

Long-lost World War II sub found off Swedish coast.

(CNN) -- Lighthouse keeper J.A. Eckerman was the last person to see World War II Soviet submarine S-2 before it sank in January 1940 between Sweden and Finland.

A team of Swedish and Finnish divers had been searching for the Soviet submarine S-2 since 1999.

Avro Lancaster

Mr.J and I will travel to Windsor, Ontario this summer to see the restoration of this famous British warbird. There is a long history of this plane, as it was purchased by the now-deceased uncle of one of Mr. J's friend who resides in the UK. Hopefully we will have an inside look-see.

A Lancaster was at the Willoughby, OH Lost Nation… Continue

Looking for work?

A group of doctors at a global medical conference are bragging to each other about the state of medicine in their home countries.

A French doctor says, "Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks."

A German doctor says, "That is nothing; we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks."

A Russian doctor says, "In my country,… Continue

2012..This is Weird...not an April Fools joke.

2012 is claimed to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or apocalypse). Many esoteric sources interpret the completion of the twelfth B'ak'tun cycle in the Long Count of the Maya calendar (which occurs on December 21 by the most widely held correlation) to mean there will be a major change in world order.

Several experts have predicted a special astrological/astronomical alignment between the Galactic center in the constellation of Sagittarius, the Winter Solstice point, and… Continue
