The Iranians are being forced to spread out to react to the Azeris *not* charging blindly into the city.

Working the flanks, the Strykers try to get some observation to bring the mortars into the fight. The tanks are reacting the US forces and trying to plink a Stryker platoon.

It's less a change in setup than in the opening moves... they're going to try not charging into the teeth of the Iranian infantry/mortars across open farmland. Seems like that lesson would've been learned years ago in the Crimea. :)

Boy, so much for leader's recon for the Stryker guys. They just go right into it. So much for deliberate planning! Interested in what changes to the Azeri setup you think might give them a better chance this time around--not immediately clear from the photos....

The US forces don't immediately mass into battle. On turn 1, they get to move 1 unit; turn 2 they move 2, and turn 3 they can move 4. After that he can move all of the US units as they unload from the aircraft and load up their vehicles.
The Iranians have a decent amount of infantry that can move into Salyan, and some armor support, but can't fight the Americans and take the city at the same time, unless the Americans run into the city and make it convenient for them.
