Any thoughts on this new TPS game? The cover at least is superb. I've never played a game on this operation, but I know Vae Victus has something out there.......this is definitely something I could sink my teeth into. I've been supremely hacked off at Phormio since I first read Thucydides: Idiot!!

I'm the designer of the TPS game on Syracuse. I also have not seen the Vae Victus game and will be trying to snag a copy at Phantom of the Attic in Pittsburgh.

Then I have to have it, no question. Had the Athenian Assembly been any wiser than it was, it would have been Phormio they cashiered long before the Sicilian venture. What a twit! One of those Generals whose head one would gladly have banged against the pavement a dozen times. A pity Demosthenes didn't have him "trip on his sword"......

I developed the TPS game, and it is a lot of fun.  It's quick, and though much of the combat is resolved in a fairly conventional manner, there is the option to use a battleboard for more detail, and also for truly decisive results, as it tends to be bloodier.  I haven't played the Vae Victis version, and in fact this the first I've heard of it, so I can't compare.
