The Saturday group played a one-year turn of Wellington, GMT’s peninsular campaign game. Just took us a while to re-learn the rules. It was looking bad for the French by the end of the afternoon, though.

Our Thursday afternoon play of Revolution Games' Konigsberg (1945), works good with 3 players. Each German corps/Russian Army is activated by a random chit-pull, creating uncertainty and tension  Although many German units were destroyed and much German territory was lost, the Russians only claimed 3 VPS for a Major German Victory. Below is the furthest advance by 2nd Belorussian Front at game end..

Taught the Group the basic Dogfight game for Wild Blue Yonder (Down in Flames WWII). Played a practice round + 2 4-player dogfights. Not everybody loves the card game aspect, but I hope to try it again and gain some converts from the Group.

2nd St. Albans (Blood & Roses) - A Yorkist victory against overwhelming Lancastrian odds, by smart usage of the "Pass" option and a skillful defensive fight.

Just finished introducing a friend to Wing Leader with  scenario #V02 "Birthday Present", a 1942 Japanese bombing raid in China opposed by the AVG.  The Flying Tigers shot down 3 Oscars and two Sally bombers for a loss of 3 P40s. The rest of the Sallys made it to the target.  So the Japanese achieved a victory by one VP, one less would have been a draw! Close, exciting match and a good learning experience.

Civilization (AH 1980's version) with the weekend gaming group. Takes a while to play, but this classic is always a challenge!

Annual Cedar Rapids Game Week (07/20/18-07/24/18):

Wing Leader Victories - Kiev Campaign: Germans pulled out a (not decisive) victory.

Wild Blue Yonder - 1940-41 Campaign: All 3 Stages, 15 missions, Two wins for the RAF, one for the Axis (actually the Italians).

Sovereign of the Seas by Compass: We tried to play this, had trouble with the rules.

Horse & Musket: Two battles.

Great War Commander: First time playing this Combat Commander adaptation to WWI. A lot of card-generated chaos, this one needs more play. Fun!

Chariots of Rome.

Firefly: More fun!

GMT's Blood & Roses - Blore Heath: The Lancastrians routed the Yorkists & changed history.

Wakefield Set-Up - 1460. The Yorkists approach.

1st St. Albans 1455-Lancastrians lose, Yorkists turn the flank.

Playing Blood & Roses (GMT). Men of Iron system is fairly easy & quick to play. Some real infantry slugging matches in this box!

Loot from CSW Expo 2018.  The Big Push was just issued at the convention. No Retreat was from the Flea Market ($30!).

Great time seeing some of my old gaming friends at CSW and attending the seminars. Played:

War Galley (the big Side scenario for a Monster Game)

Warrior Queen

Chariots of Rome

Nemesis

The Big Push

Also got to shoot down 2 P47s with my Japanese ace at the Down in Flames table on Saturday.
