I have a few resolutions regarding my gaming for 2012. I thought I'd share them and let others add their resolutions if they would like.

Do more solitaire gaming

Due to the fact that I've made some good FtF friends over the past year plus the fact that I have been an active vassal wargamer, I've done less solitary gaming over the past year. I'd like to get back to more of that while remaining an active FtF and vassal player. To that end I have purchased some more "solitaire-friendly" games.

Do Campaigns from two games from the AH GCACW Series

I have several of these games and would like to explore some of the campaigns. I'm played several scenarios and started a solitaire campaign in one game but didn't finish it.

Explore Block Gaming Genre

I've done a lot of hex and counter and CDG games. I'd like to try blocks. I bought Forged in Fire by Worthington Games and plan on playing that this year. I've also got my eye on Hellenes which is a card-driven block game.

Anybody like to add their resolutions?

Pretty much : GAME MORE !! !! !! I suspect mostly solitaire, but I do have to get to the conventions this year (as I missed all of the usual ones I attend this past year). I have discovered that there is an active Gaming group here in Toledo Ohio, not too many WarGamers, but some....and leading to: Go ahead and Make New Gamers.

( I was staying with a friend for a few weeks and I and set up S&T#265 "Operation Jubille:  Dieppe August 1942", playing the solitaire-designed game, using John Butterfield's system used in the "Omaha Beach" game. Well, as various Friends and Neighbors stopped by to visit naturally ,the set-up game was examined and commented upon....quite favorably. And there are three gentlemen who want me to teach them how to play ! So, I think, There's a good Idea: Need Opponents ? Create Some ! )

Yes, more solitaire gaming... I've recently purchased some of Dan Verssen's games just for this purpose.

1. Buy less, play more.

2. Investigate VASSAL

3. Show up just once(!) and preferably attend regularly the North Texas Gamers Game Days.

My resolutions are:-

More gaming - I did not do anywhere near as much gaming last year as i wanted too. I think part of my problem is having too many things on the go (wargame, modelling, pc game etc) and never finishing any. So from now on, only one at a time!

Vassal - I will get into this program. I have looked at it briefly too many times and never played anything, so I need to give it a good go.

My Game - A game I started to develop over a year ago and dropped. I have decided to pick it up again, and, as a way of learning more about the subject it will be about, I am reading a book about it, and have another lined up more for reference. I look forward to developing this game, especially as it will be for solo play only.
