I have decided to create a list of the top 10 games that I own and want to learn and play in 2014. I do not normally do lists like this, but I thought if I set myself a target, then it would be good to see at the end of the year how well I have done.
Some of these games have multiple scenarios, so I will class them as played even if I only play one
I do not intend to rattle through them just to complete my list, I will play them like I do all my games - take my time to learn the rules, study all the angles of the battle and play around with different strategies
My list is as follows (in no particular order):
Lost Battles (Fifth Column Games)
Where there is Discord (Fifth Column Games)
Field Commander Napoleon (DVG)
Hunters (Consimpress)
Picket Duty (Legion Wargames)
Malta Besieged (VPG)
Napoleon at Berezina (ATO)
Gross Deutchland Panzer (WaW)
War in the Pacific, Chile vs Peru & Bolivia (S&T)
Panzerkrieg (OSG/AH)
*Cruel Necessity (VPG)
*Panzer Grenadier (AP)
(*additions to my list. I have played PG before, but it demands more game play, especially as I have four of them!)
UPDATE: my BGG geeklist http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/167665/target-list-of-game-to-pla...
I will of course be playing other games besides these ones, but these ten games are the ones I really want to learn and play in 2014.
Do you have such a list or something similar? Please, do share!

Some good lists by David and Anthony.
A World At War
Amateurs to Arms!
1989
Crown of Roses
No Prisoners
Virgin Queen
Here I Stand
I almost bought the solitaire Struggle for the Galactic Empire (which I know you have). I made the order and then canceled that portion of the order. I have enough games right now. Solitaire play is fun also. The disadvantage is that you fall into patterns based on your own thought. That is why it is good to have ftf opponents they do things differently.
Games I want to play this year:
OCS (probably DAK and Baltic Gap)
GBOH (SPQR and Alexander)
Stonewall Jackson's Way II
ASL starter kits - Been meaning to learn this.
Anthony, that is unfortunate. The wargames club I used to go to (it has temporarily stopped due to the fact they have nowhere to play at the moment) had someone there that seemed interested in play board wargames, so I may end up with a FtF opponent yet!
Just lately, I have bought quite a few solitaire games (Hunters, Where there is Discord, Cruel Necessity, Picket Duty & FC Napoleon) plus having quite a few others, it has enhanced my lone wolf status some what...ha ha ha
It's good to have goals. I'm only familiar with one of the games you mentioned. I want to do more solo gaming this year. I've been blessed to have some FtF friends although due to distance and family obligations, we can only get together every other month or so.
Lawrence - I know what you mean by the order of games to be played shifting in priority.
I have played quite a few scenarios of PG Eastern Front, and I do enjoy it. Before I start a scenario I normally go to Panzer Grenadier Headquarters ( http://www.pg-hq.com/index.php )and check out the scenario there, as it gives a lot of useful info on it and how balanced it is.
Yes, Roger, I also want to have some AP games in my list but every time I have others push them over to the next, and then to the next again. Please let me know what do you think about the PG system. I have a bunch of them!
Thanks Paul, you have a good and safe 2014 too.
Looks like a lot of fun Roger. Have a great 2014 my friend!
I have updated this post with my geeklist for 2014...
