I will raise a glass in memory of my Dad who took part in D-Day, serving on HMS Scylla, on this day 69 years ago.
And I will raise a glass to all the other brave people who took part in this operation, and to those who fell.
Chuck, I am sure he would have well appreciated your comments. As a little note in case you or anyone else is interested, HMS Scylla (Pictured below) was badly damaged later on in June and was towed back to Britain. My Dad then went on to serve on HMS Cleopatra until he left the Royal Marines.
