I have cats, I love animals but we own cats cause we like cats and they are low maintenence - I have a high stress job so nice not to have to worry about them (no need to walk them!)

But I really like them and get a kick out of their ways, One thing I've noticed is how many war gamers (who are generally male a stereotype but hey its's true) have and like cats.

So why is that? Even my wife seemed to notice a lot of wargamers like cats - so whats up with that???

Yes, I agree with Smitty ... while I do have cats ... I prefer dogs ... I have to keep my war games set up so the cats can't get to them ... my counters are always in danger of being gnawed.

Bart,

That was very well said, and sums up my love affair with Cats.

My girl Siamese, Topaz, is with me right now, in the War Room, in a chair beside me, getting petted, and being sweet.

With spring coming, she is shedding like heck too.

Love my cats..(mostly) I have five..I also have a screen door on the interior door of my gameroom so that they can see and watch dad, but cannot enter the room..makes it a win for me and a stay alive for them..

Cats rock! We have two, and I can honestly say that for a guy who swore he'd always be a dog person, I am unabashedly a cat guy now.

They have such unique personalities, and they are just smart. I still love dogs (all animals really) but man I love my cats.

It's true that playing games with cats around is tricky. Actually doing anything with cats around is tricky. They just like to be a part of what your doing. So when our cats lie down on the book we're reading, or paw at the paper while you're trying to read it or plop down on the keyboard while I am trying to write this post ;) or yes, wipe out a division of mechanized infantry right before they execute the bold master stroke you had planned; well then we just say "They're trying to help" or "He wants to play too" and we smile.

They are a great stress relief and awesome company when the world of people around you gets tiresome.

Man that sounds cheesy. But I stand by it!

We have one, I don't trust her around my miniatures or my games without supervision, but the same could be said of my girlfriend. :)

I have had cats literally crap on miniature set ups a couple of times.. The sand table actually made sense to me though that did not make me like it any better picking GHQ tanks out of Cat scat. That particular cat was hurled at high velocity against a wall, I would not do that now but I was much younger and still drank. I had matured considerably by the time a roommates cat gathered all the Lichen trees on a War game table (no longer sand) in to a neat pile with a few battalios of 15mm Napoleonic and took a nice steaming dump on top of them. I wound up moving.

I have never owned a cat, never will, even for scientific experiments.

Cats are the cosmic chaos that all wargamers fear!
