Easter Update: Now carrying a card for TSA Screeners.

SO, two weeks ago, March 22nd, I had Hip Replacement Surgery for my Left Hip (to go along with my Right Hip Replacement)..

And the Surgery went fine, done here at VA Medical center Ann Arbor Michigan, accomplished by the same surgeon that did my right hip several years ago !  I am still in The VA Med center, doing nicely according to surgeons, physicians, physical therapists and fellow patients. This VA is one of the best in the country, partnered with the University of Michigan Medical Center and schools (also resulting in very cute female medical interns and students -combine that with the usual Federally-Prescribed prescriptions and I am definitely doing as best as can be expected.).

I have a few WarGames with me. Due to space constraints, the largest maps are S&T#133 RHBerg's "Baton Rouge" and Wargamer #50 "Operation Dynamo" and C3i "Drive on Metz", "Cheriton Woods" and "Churubusco". I also have some solitaire games with me, a couple of Pen&Dice Solo games ("Operation Pedestal", "East Front Solitaire") and a series of well-timed "Military Heritage", "WWII History" and "Hallowed Ground" magazines.  I have less time to devote to playing than I planned on, due to the fact that I am conversing with nearly EVERYONE who SEES the magazines and games. (And Keep In Mind that most everyone here is a Veteran, so the level and quality of conversation is quite a bit more underdstanding than the average public encounter.)

When I get out of here is unknown, although it may be soon. Or not. I haven't been able to get a definite answer: "Soon", "No Putting Weight On the Leg" THAT only yesterday!, "When You think You're Ready", "Let's see What The X-Rays Say".....

The food is actually pretty good, most of the time (I actually get to choose from a menu what I want to eat tomorrow) , the company very nice (and we descend into the military jargon constantly, it's amazing how much is ingrained!). The only problem is seeing the younger patients. We're Old, so it's OK that we are here; It's jarring and sad to see 19 and 20 year olds here. It also keeps our bitching and complaining to a minimum.

            Happy Easter.

I hope for the best !

If you have a laptop (or regular access to a computer), try loading some vassal modules in the computer to play solo or over the internet.
