Foreign correspondents in a simulated civil war

An interesting piece by Lisa Lynch (Concordia University) on using a conflict simulation to train journalism students. (In this case, the simulation is a class roleplay exercise, not a published board game):

I do similar things with my history students in various classes. I get them to research a single character whose role they will play. We then work through events and they 'represent' the views/attitudes/behaviours of that character. They interact with other characters, put their views forth, challenge other views (based on their understanding of their character). By the end of this students gain a more detailed understanding of how events unfolded and why things happened [discussions typically focus on the reasons for the breakdown of civil relations and the outbreak of violence].
