I feel like I'm losing part of my arm with the forum going down. It has become a staple of my life. Well, we hope the upgrade goes well and I thought I'd set-up this blog so folks can share what they will be doing between now and when the forum is back online in a few days (based on our schedule if all goes according to plan). Keep in mind we have the webinar tonight per our news desk announcement, as well as our live chat session tonight that immediately follows it.

Anyone doing gaming now or over the weekend? I may have a chance to play SPI's Operation Star Saturday morning if I can break away prior to my son's 5th birthday party.

And as soon as I post that, the forum is back. Never mind...

I think the forum crashed a few minutes ago. Anyone else having trouble?

Seems to run much faster.

And 3-letter keyword search works.

Forum seems to be performing well again.

Yes, to bring Message Center back, please do the following.

  1. Click on preferences button
  2. Select first option --> enable special user functions

You should see it there (along with a few other items like subscriptions and watch favorite members) and should be good to go again!

We are presently working to troubleshoot the slow performance of CSW Forum since it is now back online. We are aware of the performance issues and we will be getting them addressed. Thanks for your patience!

Understood, Tony. That's why we are going to be testing search with the new version and see how it performs. The search index will rebuild overnight so we will probably all find out together at the same time if search is improved or not. I'm definitely going to be asking for feedback on search results tomorrow.

John, one problem I have with CSW Search is not being able to search for a 3-letter keyword (usually an acronym for a game).

Don't know if that can be fixed (or if I did it wrong in the first place).

Daniel, the Shiloh game in S&T 264 uses a derivative of the Intermediate Rules in AH Gettysburg '77. Paul is currently working on a Chancellorsville game using it...
