I'm about to open my old gamebox of Fulda Gap.
Do you remember ? A game of the former SPI company in 1977 by James Dunningan about the crush of soviet armies in Central Europa...

I've played it since the 80'.

Quite a pleasure, indeed !

I've got to say that Mark H. Walker's World at War series (Eisenbach Gap, Death of 1st Panzer, Blood and Bridges) are well worth looking into if you are a fan of the "World War III" genre of games. They are well designed, highly playable, and simply beautiful games. Rather than dusting off a classic like Fulda Gap or The Next War, I suggest trying World at War and reaping the benefits of another 30 years of game design and production experience.

One curious note about this game: This game is an exhibit in the "Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" (Museum of History of the German Federal Republic) in Bonn, Germany. There is a display in the Cold War section presenting the game with some comments upon Wargames portraying potential conflicts between NATO and Warsaw Pact. I never played this game though, I only know the HPS Simulation Fulda Gap '85. My favorite cosim about this hypothetical conflict is Air & Armor.

Concerning Fulda Gap, as soon as I have made the set-up, I post some snapshots. So Smitty will be able to see what he missed going to the Fulda Gap when Ivan was about to come. ;-)
Excuse my poor english, I'm french.

Yes, I played Wurtzburg too. Quite a good game as nearly all the games in both Modern Battle Quadrigames. RS/WS was also a very good game, not very simple. I remembered a Soviet recon in blizzard -no visibility !

Yep another one I did not have the money for at the time. One of my favorites is the "Wurzburg" Folio game. funny I never did play it much but i love looking at the original "Red Star White Star"

The Next War ? Well ! Quite a good monster of the former SPI company ! I played 25 years ago a scenario in which Russians attacked during holydays with chemical. Terrific ! ;-)

This was one of the games we wanted to play, but never got around to it...
Recently, I've had the desire to re-visit the old SPI games covering the Next War as envisioned in the 70's and early 80's and this game is on my list to play.

This was one of the games I lusted over when it was released but couldn't afford it at the time (what, is was maybe $15)? I might have a copy of it now somewhere in my collection, but no longer have the time to play it, along with about 500 other games.
