A 5-player session of Ancient Civilizations of the Inner Sea with the Saturday group. We have all played it before, so it went pretty smoothly, made it through 2 Epochs. More back-stabbing fun. Everybody's civ was in the running until the final scoring.

Hearts & Minds - Played a 1965-1968 scenario, after a couple of practice runs at 1966. Nice components and cool cards that add Vietnam-era chrome. Plays fast and is fun. Allies won by 2 Political Will points by dominating I Corps in 1968 with Operation Starlight.  The NVA did not save up enough resources to pull off the Tet Offensive in 1968, and did not pay enough attention to the I Corps Allied build-up.

First play through of FAB Golan '73. The Syrian offensive bogged down on turn 6, Israeli Sudden Death Victory. We will try this one again, interesting system.

First play-through of Ancient Civilizations of the Inner Sea with the Saturday Group. Pretty Euro-style, but good chances for chaos and back-stabbing due to Fate and Event cards. We got through 3 Epochs in our first learning game (basic scenario 4-player) and hope to try this again.

Our 3rd play of Sixth Fleet ended with a very close Draw. The Russians did a good job of capturing Istanbul, but airborne and amphibious assaults on Crete failed to control it at game end. Lots of Cruise Missile attacks, and a 3 squadron Blinder attack on a US CV TF that was intercepted and wiped out by F14s and F18s.  I thought this was a fun magazine game and a worthy successor to the old Sixth Fleet game from 1975.

Saturday group did a "training session" of GMT's Clash of Monarchs. Pretty stiff learning curve and much checking the rulebook. We figured out most of how things work and decided it's worth another shot.

The Saturday Joliet group played Genesis Saturday, a close one between the Assyrians and the Hittites. The Babylonians got ambushed by Elam, and the Egyptians had religious and revolt problems.  Just enough chaos for me! Our group enjoys this game, and paused for a moment to remember the designer, Richard Berg. RIP.

Another play of Liberte' 5-player with the Saturday group. Here's the end of the game, the Royalists formed the final government!

The Thursday breakfast group played Liberte', a Euro-style game based loosely on the French Revolution. Clever design. we thought it was fun.  would be good for the larger Saturday group.
