I have finished playing a game, and I am deciding what to play next.

My only problem is what to pick? This could be the evil of having too many games.

I have a few games in mind, but I cannot make my mind up. Decisions, decisions!

So what influences you to pick up your next game? Do you decide on an era? Is it after reading a book or watching a documentary?

Do you get influenced by what others are playing or what you have bought recently?

At the moment I have this bug in my head about medieval and early gunpowder games. But due to a purchase (Society of Ancients "Aquitaine"), I am now going further back in time to Ancient Battles. I also want to play one of my WW2 Tunis games.

I think names in a hat will be my only solution.

Sometimes I resort to a dice roll but that can degenerate into 'oh best of 3' or 'oh best of 5' etc etc :-)

I have decided to keep to my original plan of playing medieval/early gunpowder games, as it is that era of game that is buzzing in my head. I am glad to see I am not the only one to suffer from this conundrum!

I usually reach into my soul and just pull out what I want.

Now and then, I look at the list I keep for vid requests.

Recently, I chose Kingmaker, after really struggling as to what to play -

anything other than Chariots of Fire would do - but the games swirling in

my head didn't fit my time desires (fit in the long weekend at my pace), or

just weren't exciting me enough. I think seeing Crown of Roses information triggered

the Kingmaker thought. It's often such connections. Other times, something's just

on my mind for a long time.

It has been a mystery to me too.  Recently I bought 3 games from GMT, read the rules, clipped counters, and yet undecided.  They are all juicy, but it's raining again here, and I'm thinking of playing Luftschiff instead!  I don't like my mind.  : (
