Looks like we lost the B-17 "Liberty Belle" today

Based on the markings and the reported owner, it looks like the Liberty Belle. All seven passengers and crew made it off the plane safely, with one passenger hurt. You can always trust a B-17 to bring 'em back. What a loss.

It was a terrible loss, but, thankfully, no one was killed or injured. The crash happened just a few miles from my house, near where I ride my bike on weekends. I found it interesting that our local coverage, in the Aurora Beacon-News, linked directly to a BBC video report of the crash. That crash was heard around the world.
I wonder if there's anything worth salvaging aboard the plane. There are several other B-17's around in various stages of restoration.
