The game is a mix of Twilight Struggle with We the People battlecards. If you like those games I think you will enjoy 1989.

Thanks Ted,

I like politically themed games. What games did you play that inspired you to design 1989?

Hi Bob,

Now that GMT is going to publish the game it will be a stand alone game. Before you needed the TS counters.

Good job!

I tried looking up the living rules and they state that I need a copy of Twilight Struggle to play this game. Is 1989 a stand-alone or an extension of Twilight? Both games look good. War by other means has always been a big hit with me.

Keep up the good work.

Ted,

didn't see the Tiananmen Square track, but it sits right above the victory points. At my age, you have to look twice at things :-)

Oh that's a great picture, Maybe I can squeeze it in somewhere. I like tank man though. The Tiananmen Square protests are in the game on a separate track that works like the Space Race in Twilight Struggle. I should take out the bottom text I guess.

Ted,

cover looks great. But i wonder how the Tiananmen Square picture fits the "democratic revolution in eastern europe" ? China seemed far off at this time. I'd suggest exchanging it with a picture more eastern europe.

Why not include the flag of the "Romanian Revolution" auf 1989 ? ( http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:RomanianFlag-withHole.jpg )

Just my 0.02$...

Interesting and great, I was just reading the book Prisoner of the State by Zhao Ziyang.

Looks cool. If the crowd on the Wall is New Years eve 1989, I was there. The Biggest Bash of all time.

Very cool looking cover. While you can't judge a book by it's cover, the box art and graphics will either help or hurt the decision to buy a game. For example, look at Starforce Terra: Contact by 3W. Great game but the box art and graphics of the original are awful. I'm sure Dan Verssen Games has remedied this in their version of the game.
