I have finally got through a couple of games of Nemo's War, a game I bought just before Christmas

And this game is a hoot.

Once i got into the way the game plays, turns are fast and the action is furious. For a game that is a solitaire game, it has a surprising level of strategy to contend with. There is a fair amount of chance in this game with various dice rolls etc, but the strategy involved is quite intense, depending on which Commitment you take on (this is basically what sort of ethical strategy Nemo takes, which could be WAR, SCIENCE, EXPLORE or ANTI-IMPERIALISM), and what actions you perform in the different oceans.

It is a fun, light-hearted strategy game and a nice break from some of the more serious war games. I am certainly glad I bought the expansion pack too!

I had seen on the group All Things Victory Point Games that you had bought Astra Titanus, as this is one of the other games I was planning on buying it, but I went for Nemo's war instead, as The Boardgame Guru in London has Astra, and he supplied me with Nemo's War.

I too saw Legions of Darkness on the VPG site and BGG rate it very highly, so I think I may have to get it as well once the Guru has it in stock.

I don't think we will help each others wallet, but they are well worth it.

I own Astra Titanus and the recently released Legions of Darkness which are both designed by Chris Taylor, the designer of Nemo's War. I REALLY enjoy Astra Titanus, so I am not surprised Nemo's War is great as well. I have not had a chance to play Legions of Darkness as of yet, but it's getting positive feedback so far. I'll probably have to pick up Nemo's War as well now. You are not helping my wallet Roger!
