Phantom Leader Deluxe review
Thanks Andreas. I was leaning towards PLD. I think you tipped the scape for me. Happy New Year!
glad you like the review and that we could raise some interest in the game. Regarding your question, well, that's not so easy to answer. Both games share some of the basics, sure, but otherwise play differently and according to your personal gaming taste both may fit (for different reasons) or one of them is better suited, hard to say, really. Personally I really like the split in attack helicopters and jets in TAL (keep in mind we play these games as coop games so one player commanding the fighters, and the other player the helis is even more immersive than two players dividing a fighter squadron) and also the added level of having ground attacks etc., but we only played the original TAL, not the new deluxe version. You can see what we think on the original game here!
For a player new to the whole system PLD might be easier to get into but... a true wargamer would not be satisfied with only having one of them ;)
Both are really great games and well worth every dollar you have to pay for them, especially if you often play solitaire and want a real good story to evolve in your game sessions. These games allow to write some cool AARs because of that....
Hope that helps, and thanks for visiting our website. Merry Christmas to you and yours :)
Thanks for that in depth review. I've also read alot about TAL. Which one would you recommend 1. for some one new to the system and 2.if you could only have one?
