All of a sudden, I'm involved in three(!) playtests, using three different technologies:
- Battleground - This DDH Games game is a fresh take on the venerable Up Front!, one of my all time favorite games. I received the playtester copy last week and the quality is very nice. The game looks like a nice variation on a theme and pretty polished. I might even be able to try it out with my daughter, who will be 11 soon, but I also have a couple of local gamers who will help me out if we can ever get our schedules to match up.
- Pax Baltica - This GMT game is a take on the Great Northern War of 1700-1721, where Sweden tried to take over Europe. It will be a block game but I received the rules and a VASSAL module for it. Looks interesting but I'm also not that familiar with VASSAL so I need to figure that out too. I pushed virtual counters around last night for a bit and hope to try it some more, then see if any of the other playtesters want to try a game.
- 7 Ages - A computer game from ADG based on their boardgame of the same name. I have never played the game although I have been looking longingly at copies for sale in the Consimworld forums, so I'm looking forward to giving the computer game a whirl.
