Over the past year, I have been cruising the wargaming forums at BGG, and taking part in various discussions, I have come across some real know-it-all's who seem to think that their opinion is above and correct over any others.
These opinions can cover how good or bad a game is, a publisher, or a designer. They pound you with all sorts of crap, making you look like you know nothing, and that they are the voice to be believed in.
Although it annoys me, I also find it quite funny, because these people have never had a game published, and do not own a game publishing company.
So if they know what makes a great wargame, why do they not design it, making it one of the best wargames ever, and let them publish it with their own perfect game company?
The reason they do not is because they do not have the skill, the patience and the time, and hate it when someone (like me ha ha ha) goes against their opinion.
I play each game for what it is. I do not look for faults - I play to enjoy!

I agree totally.
I agree that people often start a game with an eye to identifying what they don't like about it. However, some games kind of hit you with their problems / idiosyncrasies as you're in the midst of it and it's kind of hard to overlook.
People should be less dogmatic about these things. But, this being the Internet, the ones most likely to post are those with the strongest opinions. It's like living in a world composed solely of my 17 yr-old son.
