"The Master and his VASSAL" an interview with Rodney Kinney

Today the Boardgame News (http://www.boardgamenews.com) publishes
an interview with Dr. Rodney Kinney, the designer and administrator
of the VASSAL game engine (http://www.vassalengine.org)

VASSAL began as a basement project, but Dr. Kinney's
java-based, cross-platform, open-source engine has
become a gaming phenomenon boasting modules for 350
different games and with 300 new players signing up
every week. "If you poke around for games on the
Internet," says Dr. Kinney in this interview, "you
come across VASSAL pretty quickly." With 3700
different gamers playing live on VASSAL every
month and untold more using it for play by email
encounters, Dr. Kinney's pastime is revitalizing
boardgaming and bringing it into the Internet age.

In this interview, Dr. Kinney discusses the rise of
VASSAL, the methods behind its success, and introduces
the readers to some of the exciting innovations
envisioned for the future.
