Delete Comment It's been some time since anything has been posted about this game, as I've been wrestling with finding a satisfying battle mechanic. Although no battles took place historically (only one minor skirmish) there was certainly the possibility of battles happening at any moment, so I wanted to include that possibility in the game. I think I have settled on a solution that I am happy with, will add to the game and not be too cumbersome for what should really be a side attraction to the exploration part of the game. More to follow soon.

Delete Comment If you want a summary of sorts, you could always go to the Discovering Lewis and Clark website. It has been a great source for me. I'll provide the link to the info on Freeman-Custis, which includes a little of Hunter-Dunbar, and the Spanish Military as well. It's about 17 short pages. Of course you can freely peruse the rest of the site while your there!!

Delete Comment I went to high school in Atchison, Kansas, just across the Missouri River from two campsites used by Lewis and Clark (one outbound, one return, I think). Their journey is an amazing story.

Delete Comment There is a lot of history and information in those 3 years between Jefferson, Burr, Gen. Wilkinson, the Spanish and each of the explorers to try to condense into a page or two summary, but I'll try to see what I can come up with. My intent was to have the game spark interest in reading about the era, I would hate any such condensed version of my own to do it an injustice.

Delete Comment Sounds great, Chad. May I suggest that you include at least an historical summary in your game? I'm always grateful when I am introducing myself to an historical period I don't know much about with a game and the author includes some background.

Thanks for your interest!! That's what I'm working on incorporating into the game right now. It's slow going as the game was only going to be focused on Lewis and Clark. Right now I'm researching the other expeditions to determine what their agendas should be. Pike and Wilkinson were secretly working for Aaron Burr to gather intel for his scheme to take over Mexico, and they were ordered to persuade the natives the discontinue trade with the Spanish in favor of the US. I'm still on the fence as to whether the Spanish Military will be a playable faction in the game, or if they will be modeled as events in the card play. I think they may be too powerful as a faction, but it needs to be tested. The rules were almost finished for the original object of the game, but none of the new changes have been incorporated as yet.

Delete Comment Drooool.....

Are the rules for this available? I am dying to know if each player has their own agenda (other than winning the game...I mean in character).

Delete Comment I'm just very impressed with Tim Allen's work on this map and wanted to share it. The game is very close to Alpha testing, but it was originally only going to be a 6 player game with each player basically competing to be the better Lewis and Clark. I'm changing it now so that each player has different goals, as different explorers and opening up the map more.

Delete Comment Original play test map by Tim Allen. Many changes are in store, but this is the main artwork. Besides Lewis and Clark, the game is now going to include the explorers Zebulon Pike and Wilkinson, Freeman and Custis, Hunter and Dunbar, and may also include the Spanish Military either as a faction to play, or will be portrayed in the event cards. Each player will have separate goals. Terrain tiles will be placed on the map as your expedition progresses. Game is card driven with players able to affect the play of others, so there is no down time. Contact me if interested in play testing or helping me hammer out the final rules. conchad2@gmail.com
