Looking back at 2013 I was wondering how fellow "Consimmers" did with their game purchases and other related aspects of the hobby.

Most surprising game purchase: Spearpoint 1943 (CEW).  Who'd ever thought I'd be so enthusiastic about an abstract card game based on the Allied invasion of Italy?  This is a fabulous game!

Most Embarrassing purchase: Deluxe (Kickstarter) OGRE.  What the hell was I thinking? I mean, I like OGRE, but not this much!

Best "free" find: Guns, Dice and Butter Podcast. With 2-2 1/2 hour podcasts, Herr Docktor and his friends have kept me entertained during my long drives between San Jose and Fort Bragg.  Thank you to David and everyone who has participated in this project.

Biggest loss for the hobby: The passing of Donald Featherstone…..  Mentor to us all.

Feel free to contribute your thoughts….

Wayne, I agree about GMT games….  They great games and such a supportive company to boot. I've never had a bad experience with GMT's customer service.

Embarrassingly I bought 11 games this year, not to mention several magazines with games. Of those only 2 have hit the table and only in the last week. Road to Cheren and France'40 have been a lot of fun but I still need to spend time to get comfortable with them.

Best purchase...all of them really since this was a return to gaming year for me. Next year several purchases on pre-order that I hope do come in.

Best find...for me it was GMT games in general. I have been very impressed with quality of components and materials included in boxes.

Got everything I ever wanted for this year.  Now, if I can only play everything I bought!

Most surprising game purchase: Lost Battles (Fifth Column Games), by the fact I got it at such a knock down price, and it was my Holy Grail of games to own.

Most Embarrassing purchase: None, but that may change in 2014...lol

Biggest loss for the hobby: I agree with you, the loss of Donald Featherstone. I have only recently found out how much of a contribution he made to wargaming.
