I am looking for wargamers in my local area (Burke VA) and am sending notes to a few people who appear close on CONSIM.
I used to play wargames a lot in the glory days of SPI-Avalon Hill… but work and family forced me to put further playing off for a few decades (57 years old now). I am looking for two things.
- I teach at the Marine Corps War College and I plan to use a few games in the classroom. I need some folks who will help explain some of the new games that I am not yet familiar with (Polis, For the People, Washington’s War, Fire in the Lake, Churchill, and a few others)
- Persons interested in getting together on a regular or semi-regular basis for friendly games.
It would be great to link up with folks who would also enjoy having a football game on in the background (once in awhile) .
If anyone is part of a regular group and is looking for a new member (I will bring cupcakes) please let me know. Also, if anyone is interested in forming a group (rotating play between homes) I am also interested.
Rich -- besides MailSteward, what's that other email utility program you use alongside Apple Mail? I recall you showing me two different applications, but I can't remember the second one. I'm trying to find a better way to manage/archive emails.
I would have loved it. Wish I could have been there. Am still waiting for MY COPY of DEVIL'S CAULDRON to make it's way here. Last I saw on the Forum in Consimworld, some copies have been spotted on doorstoops in Seattle, even in Sushi restaurants, while the rest of us hold our collective breaths...sigh.
I had a moment of weakness and joined the Avalanche Press GOld Club at a local Con last weekend. I picked up PG Desert Rats, then went home and saw that I have two Afrika Corps on the shelf! I think the second is from a 'black box' sale. I also got the Malaya game, pricey, but looks really cool and an interesting topic to me. For my freebie (but two get one) I got Queen of the Celts - with the good cover. Two hours later I went back and bought the GWAS Zeppelins book that has rules, articles, and counters.
Oh, I also played defiant russia, which is as advertised, basic rules and fast playing.
Thanks for the invite Rich! This looks like it will be a good place, still have to figure it out though, never was a big "myspace" fan, but I can deal with that sort of thing amongst a bunch of fellow consimers. Now to find a suitable pic.
