Mark's doing okay. He is in Houston having a bunch of test before his liver surgery. That's scheduled for this Thurs. Oct. 23. I am very nervous for him but I know he will be okay... He will probably be in the hospital for about a week after surgery and then will have to stay in Houston another week to recover. So, he hopes to be back in Albuquerque by Nov. 6th. I will let him know you were trying to reach him and seeing how he is doing. Any specific message you'd like me to pass on to him?
Nice hearing from, you. Hope all is okay with you and your family! Take care.
And please feel free to contact me anytime. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Both kids (son & daughter) have June birthdays, but the real party is not until the end of the month when we can get everyone together. Should be fun!!
I don't worry about winning or losing unless it is a game mechanic that decides it for me instead of my own play. I had a great time playing AND learning with you. The funny thing is that I usually see things more clearly for my opponent than I do for myself. So I could see the opportunity for Mook, did everything I could think of to guard against it, but had to mention it to you as a possible play simply because it was there.
Now if it was a tournament with something on the line... well, maybe I wouldn't be Mrs. Nice Guy that day. I look forward to seeing you again next year!
Gerry, we messed up on the independent unit activation. For the intro scenarios, (IF I have this right...) they can activate with the DivAct chit or the Direct Command chit, but never with any specific Formations. However, they do check their In Command status from any available Leader (in their Division) for any "In Command" functions.
I think we actually activated the independents using Formation Activation chits - or at least we thought about it. Not sure what impact that may have had on play, but... oh, well... we had a good time and learned a lot of rules and a few nuances.
Well, I think there's some momentum underway for getting some guys together for some larger team or multi-player wargames in the near future. Our first big game of GDW's Third World War combined series game had 8-10 people involved or very interested but otherwise committed (we actually had 8 players), and when it was over there was much talk of wanting to do this again very soon. Over on the STL Wargamers and/or Heartland Gamers groups here on CSW is where we'll likely plan such activities. Hope to see you there!
We pushed through the two intro scenarios and just noticed today that we did something wrong. Gee, what a shock! :0) I think we got most things right, but I really REALLY want an index to the rulebook!!
Sounds like a great plan. What a kick it will be to meet John. I'm glad he's able to make it. Do you think one of us should bring a copy? It might be problematic for me but I can if it's necessary. I will be in on Tuesday so I can help set up Tuesday evening. Looking forward to it.
The dog pic I got from my mom, if I recall. It's not my dog, though I certainly wouldn't mind owning such a funloving creature!
As far as TDC at Monstercon, John Foley is attending and would also like to play a shorter scenario. So it looks like you, me, Kai and John should hook up Tuesday evening and set up either a 4-player something or two side-by-side 2-player scenarios.
