Just received The Road to Cheren in the mail today. Merry Christmas to me!!! I love the appearance of the map and counters. The wife is frustrated that I am not doing things around the house as I try to get this on the table today. Well done.
Kim - should have comments and design notes for Picket Duty available in about three weeks. Game is progressing well - playtesting has worked out a lot bugs. Amazing and an extra pair of eyes can do for you!
Yes, I spent last year in the Nuristan Province of Afghanistan as a Civil Affairs Officer on a Provincial Reconstruction Team. The situation seems to have deteriorated in the Province, but it's hard to get a good read with all of the media hysteria.
SAy Kim, sorry for not answering back (back in october!) I just went away from theses pages (almost never am at Consimworld). About Algeria, treatment was to be completely different and I went on to try and design a counter-guerilla vs guerilla war. I used a lot of books as documentation, but of course, dealing with a tactical game, I had the opportunity to pick up actions and timing at my liking - sometimes it's only a focus on ten minutes of a day long fighting...how I balance these... thats' part of the art of designing tactical scenarios I guess it has to do with flair in a way...

Hi Kim!
I just did a open box review of Critical Hit's ASL comp for Dien BIen Phu. I thought you might like to watch it.
Best,

Oh, counters do look good. What is Shangai 37-41?
Now, that I think of it, I remember seing the counters, I'll look them up when the board will comeback. I might be playing Ici next week.
Kim, just received Tonkin. Will look at it seriously today. Looks very good. What's in the work for you?
should have joined a long time ago (shrug). Brought the game with me to Alaska this week!

I didn't get your game-related email, but I'd be interested in seeing it. Did you send it to mark at markhwalker dot com?
