Hey Darin:
Thanks for your interest in Westward Expansion. The complexity should be on the low to moderate side. If your familiar with GMT's Blackbeard, my game will employ the same card play mechanic. If you are interested I'd be happy to forward to you the rules as they are now, as I would love to get some input.

It is one of my main goals to teach my girl how to play Russian Campaign, among others.

We have a second on the way. Perhaps this time a boy, but frankly I like girls better. Seem like less chaos and destruction....

Lucky duck, indeed! I'd love to find a way to do artwork for games, layout or something that paid about what I am making at the office, so I could stay home, too. But I don't think the jobs I can do will pay enough for me to quit the job-that-pays.

Thought you might like to know, we saw many copies of your game being purchased from Alan E. at the GMT Weekend (with GMT's blessing, of course). Looked like a popular title! Well done!

Good for you - congratulations! I'll have to check it out.

And are you telling me you have a solitaire game in the works? Has anyone picked it up for production? Where can I see it?

Now why would he play solitaire when I'm here?

Oh sure... you'll talk to Chad but not to me. ;0) Hope to see you (and your younglings) in a few weeks.

Well, that last comment was supposed to go on my page, not yours. Sorry to confuse everyone.

Yes, the SPI and PB-clad youth is me at 16/17 or so. The nice lady is my late mother.

The one "pondering his moves" is Peter, 9 y/o.

Christopher (my oldest, the one smiling with a pair of gaming tweezers in his hands) has been playing since he was 9 too.

Actually, I think Peter took his first crack at Strike Force One when he was 6. We had to pay that, like, a dozen times.

Erin, my 7 year old girl, has been asking to play a "big wargame" lately. Only problem is I only have room to keep two going simultaneously, and the older boys have the tables reserved already. Erin played SF1 when she was 4! (a.k.a solitaire with her rolling dice)

Timothy is 10, and is my "token eurogamer". He doesn't care for military sims ... yet.

Emily is 13, and is autistic, so she is a non-gamer. Yes ... I've tried. I have to try again periodically, to see if she "gets" games yet. So far, no dice (pun intended).

George and Walter are 5 and 3, and they like playing with the box, rather than the game.

Thanks, one of the better shots from my son's bar mitzvah in October. Thought it best to put my "better half" up front and center.

Hey Darin, welcome aboard. Looking forward to seeing you again at Pacificon in a few weeks.

Cool. I won't have any copies for sale, but I'll bring my personal copy and demonstrate when I can. It only takes about 5 minutes to teach and you can play yourself at about 15 minutes a try (less if you aren't successful). An engagement party in San Diego kept me away from Kublacon, so I really have the gaming Jones when Labor day comes around.

I am going to be working staff, Dealer Support so that means setting up the Flea market and a few other things. I'll try and look out for you and the Israeli game since that's something I'm interested in.

Are you going to make it to Pacificon/ConQuest SF or the GMT West weekend in October?
