John, I don't play miniatures, so it would be tough for me to answer that question from any angle. There are stuff on Flames of War that I know of, besides that, I know Nil.

Hi John:  :)  In my case, I re-engaged with CSW Social during the last round of releases that Tiller/HPS did, and was outside of anything happening at BGG. I had a group here that had links going over to my site that I wanted to change around.

So here I am now, known as a BGG personality ( despite what I considered to basically be my version of glorified lurking), and I do see the humour in it.

In the end it is all about the hobby, isn't it?

i just got the games of war book and think it is great. the only question i had so far is on choosing armies. is there some way i didnt see or is it just bring an agreed upon amount of troops and tanks. my game of choice is the 54mm cold war, warm conflicts. since i spent so many deployments in the desert it seemed like an obvious choice to play.

I am always looking for new systems.

I need to have look at your book, I remember seeing a copy for sale on Amazon whilst looking at some Heroscape stuff.

Do the rules run fast? I notice some youngsters in the pictures are they the players?

Robbie, indeed, as I was a wee lad then.

I will write you later via email.

Actually, here's a site that has a lot of pics of our games when I lived in Sacramento.

No westerns though.

I think I have some photos from a shootout from 10 or so years ago. It's been so long that I've played minis at all that I really don't have much in the way of pictures to share. I'll look around for those old shots though.

The figs are all 25 to 32, but I keep my terrain at HO to get more on the table. I'm really looking forward to getting back to them. Have probably over 300 painted Western figs, and quite a few more unpainted.

Thanks for the welcome John. Yes B5 was a one-of-a-kind series.

I was sorry to see it go.

Best,

Rick

Thanks for the welcome. Most of the gear came from sutlers in Gettysburg. My reenacting unit website,
http://www.firstmdus.net/links.htm , has links to a number of vendors. Dell Leather works has a great museum quality (also high price) cartridge box, http://www.dellsleatherworks.com/knapsacks-haversacks-pouches.htm . Regimental quartermaster has cheaper but still good stuff www.regtqm.com/leather.htm SS sutlers is a good place to get a canteen.

I see on your pics you do allot of miniatures wargaming. Do you belong to TMP or HMGS?

I will look into the paintballer group. Darn, I wish the economy would pick back up so I could afford that hobby, again.

I grew up in an unincorporated area between Addison and Bloomingdale in the western suburbs. Lived in Zion for awhile, now up here in Kenosha.

It's a nice town, that's for sure. I've lived here for 20 years - before that I lived in Illinois.
