Thanks for the welcome, been on Consimworld for a number of years, primarily trolling the forum for GTS, TCS, and CSS. I have done an admirable job of pissing on rules that could easily be amended such as the GTS spotting under a barrage rule.... you can only shoot out one hex, but can see to infinity, spot that lonely mortar unit in travel mode and call arty on it. Now you cant shoot at it even if your Tiger tank is nonsurpressed by the 81mm "barrage".... kills me, just modify the damn rule
The favorites are cause the hold the most memories when I started playing these back in the day. I like both Metz 1870 and Offensive a Outrance. The latter of course is a "monster" '; however, that period has always intrigued me. Metz has the chit pulling system which I think adds to the "fog of war" what if's. You wouldn't happen to know where I could acquire a copy (or at least pages 19-20) from GMT's Typhoon 1941 playbook. I got a copy (in the shrink wrap) on Ebay but those pages were missing. I contacted GMT direct but no joy there. Cheers!
I found Fall Blau a very interesting puzzle. If the Soviets stand they will die but must make the Germans pay for their gains. The Soviets must not be passive and can and should counter attack when they are given the opportunity. The Germans of course must be very aggressive and use Mobile Assaults early to open things up.
I am eagerly awaiting the Before and After Kharkov sequel.
Gathering Storm rules have been problematic but I think after many reads there is a game present. Still not sure how to play best for transition into a World at War yet. I loved TI3 too but have not played TI4 but hear good things about it.

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry I could not reply sooner but the fact the MCEN network blocks this site it turning into quite a problem. Regarding my previous life as a wargamer, I played most of the Avalon Hill games (Afrika Korps, D-Day, Stalingrad, Anzio, Wooden Ships & Iron Men, Squad Leader, Panzerblitz, Jutland & even Tactics II), many SPI games (such as War in the East, a really outstanding post-WWII fighter combat game that I can't remember the name of, PRESTAGS series etc.) and even LaQuinta Games, whose "Ironclad" game was outstanding. There was a Napoleonic game you could play on the floor using counters provided or miniatures. I frequently had to play solitaire because it was so hard to find opponents and even harder to leave games set up over any period of time. I never got into computer games, however. I still have a few SPI games that I have not played in a long and time and have not inventoried so I can't give you a list yet.

Thanks for the welcome, Eric! Must be interesting teaching there. I was an NCO, so I've never been to there. I started in the regular Army, but later transferred to the National Guard. I was working on a Ph.D. in Soviet History at Georgetown, but after September 2001, the Guard had other things for me to do.
SF:AC was amazing for what they portrayed in such an elegant manner. A fairly realistic 3D space map and an innovative way of using it. And the background material was very unusual for the time as well. I really enjoyed Outreach just for the sheer scale of the project, and with a bit of rules tweaking some other fans have done over the years, it's quite enjoyable. I made a Cyberboard module for it nearly a decade ago, so I could always get back to the unending game when I felt the desire to do so.
I got my Kickstarter copy of T5 a couple of weeks ago, and it is packed with so many options it's nearly mind-boggling. The 650+ page book has very little setting to it, but if you ever wanted an updated Traveller Toolkit, T5 is it! Looking forward to the upcoming Player's Book as well, just to see what Marc thinks is really important. Did you ever consider buying FFE's CD collections of the old Traveller system books?
Yeah, that desert thingy is a bit of an obstacle. I did my sailing in Iowa (lake racing scows) and in Philly (505's). Just not in that season of life right now, but it'll never leave me.
Lindenau: Its unique in that the French enter battle by traveling a long narrow road over virtually impassable swamp. Once off the road they have good reason to cluster about Lindenau so they might not maneuver like typical French. This may mean the battle will follow an Austrian cadence for a change. Pay attention to the Austrian deployment tips offered in the special rules. I do not use the Martial rules, but a personal blend of Regs XXII & XXX.
I've only recently been playing miniatures.. dabbling, really. No time or patience to paint or assemble. I enjoy monster games but trying to carve a weekend and assemble two teams has been daunting. I enjoy World in Flames as such but it turns to be three or four years before I can assemble crowd from gamers scattered around the States. Same fpor Gamers OCS Series. I've played Hells Highway a few times. It never Snows looks good as well. So when and where is your Winter Offensive? Tidewater is not too far to go for some dedicated gaming.
