UD is a browser game that is optimized for Firefox, which means it works best with this specific browser and allows the player to use several FF extensions which either enhance the gameplay (or the graphics!) or the make the game easier to play (usually both is true).

Here's the stuff you should install on your PC. It may look complicated but it isn't - to install all of the following helpful tools you perhaps need 5 or 6 minutes. Btw Urban Dead is absolutely playable without all these add ons, just start the game and enjoy.. If you like it then you should install at least the UD Toolbar because it changes the graphics completely and turns Malton into a nice little 3D city, but I highly recommend to install all of the following to get the most out of the Urban Dead Zombie Apocalypse Simulation

Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

UD Toolbar: http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Udtoolbar
(note: if you also use the UD Tool then go to the preferences of the UD Toolbar (in your FF browser: extras ->addons->UDToolbar->Preferences ) and uncheck "Enable Graphic Locations".)

FF 3.x patch for the UDToolbar:
http://downloads.mozdev.org/udtoolbar/udtoolbar59.xpi

UD Tool: http://rapidshare.com/files/139340207/UDtool0.7.1.rar.html
(note: This tool will help you to automatically recognize known Player Killers in Malton by highlighting them in red. It's highly recommended to use this tool since PKers can be more dangerous than the Zombies. After downloading the file, unpack it and open the xpi file with Firefox. In the browser bar go to extras, addons and click on UD Tool -> Preferences . Then uncheck "Safe Mode", „Inventory combiner“, "HP colorizing“ and „Chance logging“. (In newer FF versions it will otherwise cause problems if you also use the UD Toolbar). Then go to: http://www.ud-malton.info/Rogues_Gallery and click on UD Tool List to download the file. The program is ready then and working in the background)

Other useful resources:

Combat Calculator: http://www.herbsofwar.com/test/combatstats.html

Omnimap (a special danger map for Malton city): http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Omnimap

Note: If you have installed Greasemonkey (go to: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748 and click "add to Firefox" - that's it), a firefox add-on allowing you to run custom scripts on selected pages, then you can use the following tools as well:

Barricade Colorizer: http://www.fireopal.com/ud/ud-barricadecolor.user.js
(Colorizes the state of a building's barricade and displays the approximate number of successful barricade attempts needed to reach said state. Very useful to see how safe a building actually is)

Profile Viewer http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:Viktor_Suvorov/Profile_Viewer
(Allows you to quickly check out the relevant data of other players you meet in Malton)

Guides:

Checking out some of these guides before moving out of your safe house in Malton the first time is increasing your chances to survive a lot
