Actually you don't transition at all. You play DoD3 and WIF together. DoD3 is used for the political stuff and WIF is used for the maps/counters/etc.

I have done this many times.l We have a group that plays this about 20 days per year (about 7 hours each time) and it takes a year to a year and a half to complete most games.

There are six of us currently.

I started playing in 2003. We are in our 6th game now.

Every game has been different.

I have seen every faction win (Fascists/Communists/Democracies) but the game is slanted toward the Communists winning (since they are the closest to their target number of victory cities at the start of the game) and they have won most of our games.
