Played NEWTOWN and had a blast!  Really rough as the Indian player, given the individualistic propensity of the tribes and that combat can occur at any time during the Indian turn, even before they are finished moving!  Life isn't easy for the Patriot player either, given the clock is ticking and they have to be really aggressive to win!

Tom, the way I look at it is that Brandywine is just harder to win as the Americans.  For me, it's the hardest of the non-seige games.  Just my opinion.

@Eric - I'm curious regarding your recommended order. Monmouth is quite a long game, while Brandywine (my favorite at this writing) isn't nearly as long or dense.

I do like how GMT did the Guilford/Eutaw Springs combo as a great way of getting newer gamers into the system.

Just received Monmouth as  my intro into the series.  Looking forward to getting on the table sometime in the near future.

Thanks for the quick response, Wric. It looks like a good series of games

Jim, it doesn't matter which title you start with in the series, although I'd prefer new players to start with GUILFORD, so you can begin with EUTAW SPRINGS that comes with it. It's very short and easy--you'll take about two-three hours for your first game of it, then an hour for your second since you'll have the hang of it. Then you play the larger GUILFORD game in the box. After that, you can play any of the non-siege games in any order you want--I'd suggest SARATOGA, then MONMOUTH, then GERMANTOWN, and save BRANDYWINE for last. Once you get comfortable with the system (probably after your first few games, actually), try one of the siege games, either SAVANNAH or PENSACOLA.

What is the order that this series of hames is published? Is it important to start with the first one?

Both 1812 'n F&IW would be appropriate for the series imho, I really would like to see a tactical F&IW title put out in my life time, even 1812 would be the logical extension of the series .

Never was a fan of area movement 'n combat as seen in Wilderness War.
