Back, after a LONG WHILE.

So, yeah it's been WAY too long since I posted on here. I've been busy and slowly but surely, decaying. Ive had surgery on one eye. Need to do the other one, now. So 20/20 in my right eye, functionally blind in my left ( only shadows and light.)

BUT! I'm still Wargaming as much as usual! My last games I bought were GMT's GBACW " DEATH VALLEY " ( truly awesome game, that) and BAR Tripack "Saratoga, Guilford Courthouse/ Eutaw Springs, and Brandywine" ( Also excellent. I had already… Continue

Time Enough at Last

Lately I’ve been thinking about the Twilight Zone episode “Time Enough at Last” where the character, Henry (played by Burgess Meredith), finally has the time to read all he wants as he is finally without interruptions (being the last man on Earth). Then he breaks his glasses….

Talking about American Seacoast Fortifications

This is today's big project.  I gave a presentation at Armchair Dragoons' virtual game convention, on American seacoast fortification and coastal artillery.  Take a look!

change in site name

I'm looking to migrate our social platform and was wondering what name would you all prefer. I will most likely still using "social.consimworld.com" as one of the sub-domains but I'm considering changing the name to one of the following. Do you have a preference?

  • CSW Connect  (connect.consimworld.com)
  • CSW Community  (community.consimworld.com)
  • CSW Social (thinking I'd like to drop this name but the URL will still…

Phalanx launches Kickstarter for a new version of Mini WWII entitled "Domination"

I’ll never forget the first time I played Mini WWII. It was at BGG Con 2018. One of my gaming buddies, Lee, knew of my interest in historical wargames and thought I would enjoy this one. He had just grabbed it from the game library and put the tiny, unassuming box on the table. I remember thinking, “Hmm, this game doesn’t look like much. It’s probably too light for my tastes, but I’ll give it a try.”

As we were…

The learning curve on GTS

I feel like the learning curve on the GTS system is huge.

.

Through many hours of gameplay I've now worked through seven scenarios [the first Learning scenario, then the six Introductory scenario], and am onto my first Intermediate-level scenario, and I still feel like I'm wrapping my head around many of the rules, and making the occasional…

Line of Departure and Coronavirus

Hi Folks,

Work continues on the next Line of Departure. Right now, I'm working on an analysis of SPI's Great Battles of the American Civil War game on the Battle of Monocacy, Drive on Washington. This will be joining reviews of Jack Greene's Togo, from the final tranche of Turning Point Simulations titles, The Day of Waterloo.

The elephant in the room of course is COVID-19. As someone approaching the literal drop dead age, and with a couple of preexisting medical conditions, I am…

A Review of Embedding Hexagonal Cells in the Circular and Hexagonal Region of Interest

TWW(GDW) and Fleet Series Mashup

Argghhhhh, I just crashed the comment generator and lost all the text. I will start again. I will write it in Word and paste here.

Further to what I already posted, I don’t believe there is anything much needed for additional rules, the only interaction between the two systems are the political rules and rules about naval movement of supply and land units.

I’ll look up some info on the ships mentioned in the Fleet games.   I don’t know yet if many of the Soviet ships in the…

End of 2019, Start of 2020

I have some Line of Departure news. As you might have noticed, I published an issue in the spring, and have been working on the next one ever since. Issue 83 is a work in active progress, and currently I'm working on a second review for it, this one on Jack W Greene's Togo. The one on The Day of Waterloo, from Against the Odds, is already done and ready to insert.

2018 was a terrible year for a lot of reasons, including and especially getting anything done on Line of Departure.…
