OCS Operation Mars brief AAR

So I feel compelled to say a little something about the weekend of playing OCS we went through recently (6/22-23/12).

First I think this was the sixth or seventh annual June weekend I've done this and, as ever, it was very fun to get several guys together and play multiple days and hours of OCS. It seems like each year has almost had a theme to it too.

One year it was look at the terrain and guard your supply lines as we had a key bridge taken, putting about half our army out…

Played: The Mighty Endeavor

Made a new local contact through BoardGameGeek and had him over today to play tME. Had a good time kicking it old school. He was kind of just getting back in to war gaming after a college hiatus so my Germans were able to keep his beachhead pretty small (at least until we quit on turn 7). I enjoyed my first spin of tME and found it an improvement over Fortress Europa (though I have very fond memories of it from college days).

I look forward to getting "the guys" together to take… Continue

Latest Gaming: Red Star Rising

Played the start scenario of Red Star Rising with one of my local opponents last weekend. I enjoyed the system even if my Germans received the Stalingrad pocket making spanking they deserved. Seemed to flow well and we talked a lot about what strategies we'd use "next time."

The one thing I didn't particularly care for though was the attempt in the rules to come up with a new vocabulary for old concepts which I assume was to appeal to the mythical new to war gaming gamer. Offender… Continue

Things are fairly well in Maine!

I don't do much FtF gaming these days. I leave stuff set up and work on games at my convenience as I find the time.

I would love to get to a CarnageCon sometime, but it is unlikely that I will this year.

I am always interested in reading or watching vids of others gaming. I will read the OCS updates with earnest.

There are some definite similarities. I prefer Pacific War although its been years since I played. I played 2 full campaigns in the early 90's.

Pacific War I'm jealous! Great game although its been years since I played it. DAK2 was an awesome score. I'm always up for OCS. I got a copy of Tunisia a couple of months ago.

Hey Bob! Want to get the families together some time?

Question. I get messages from time to time saying that someone left a comment on my profile, but I cannot see that comment. Any clue?
